Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage in Wells Next The Sea
If you are looking for a dog friendly holiday cottage in Wells next the Sea then Coastguard Cottage would be perfect – we think it is. When we go on holiday, we don’t want to leave Ella (our lab) at home to be looked after by neighbours or in kennels where she might not get walked as much as she is used to (and it works out expensive).
We used to have a holiday home about 15 miles away but we found that we were always driving to Wells-next-the-Sea beach for walks with Ella so we finally decided to sell up and find somewhere closer to Wells. When we saw Coastguard Cottage for sale, it ticked all the boxes: walking distance to the beach, off-street parking (space for 3) and a private garden which could be made dog and child friendly.

Coastguard Cottage is well located for the local beaches. You can walk your dog to the famous Wells beach where there are miles of sand to let your dog run around. There is a very small stretch of beach where dogs are not allowed but if you take the steps from the car park, it will take you straight to the dog friendly section. Another of our favourite walks is to Holkham Hall either via the beach or via the road. Although dogs have to stay on the lead when there, it’s a great place to walk around and often has events. We provide lots of information of the walks we like and the places we recommend.
You can check on our latest prices and availability although we do charge an small extra cleaning fee, it is well worth it to have your pet with you…and much cheaper than kennels.

Dog Spa provided
What accommodation could offer a dog spa? Ok, so maybe not a spa but if they have been out all day and have got a bit muddy or sandy then don’t worry. There is an outside tap with a hose to clean them off. If they have forgotten their towel, no problem, we always have a spare one.
If you want an extra treat for your pet, there is a pet groomer just by the quay, Country Dogs
Dog Spa/ outside hose
Dog friendly garden
Coastguard cottage is dog friendly indoors too
Downstairs is all floorboards so it’s easy to sweep up any stray dog hair.
We do have a small extra charge for dogs but that is purely to cover the extra cleaning costs and is much less than kennelling your dog.
The only things we ask is that:
- You don’t allow your dogs on the furniture
- You don’t allow your dogs upstairs – there is plenty of space for them to sleep downstairs. Ella usually sleeps in the kitchen.
- You clean up after them in the garden.
